Basically like a scaled up version of the laser rifle for tanks and turret installations.
We have Caldari and Gallente artillery already in the form or missiles, blasters and railguns.
Now gimme some Amarrian laser cannons! |

Oh totally, dust needs more "primitive yet effective" solid slug throwers using chemical propellants.
However, im not sure I think tanks would be Minmatars style. Minmatar deserve a more unique heavy vehicle that reflects their fighting style. In another thread I proposed the idea that Minmatar should get a mech +í la Alien 2 power loader but with flak cannons and armor plates bolted down on it. It might not match the top speeds on a road, but it would accelerate faster by "running" rather than rolling, turn faster, be able to strafe like infantry etc, while blasting away with arm mounted autocannons.
Wouldn't that be much more awsome than a rusty and old looking tank? |

Yeah, a noisy beam of golden white light that fries anything it touches until the turret focussing crystals overheats or something (it has to have limitations after all).
I think it would synch well with the new skill tree for turrers as well, making it extra important for laser turret gunners to focus on turret turning speed (it's gonna be hard killing vehicles or infantry if you cant keep that beam of death on target long enough to deplete shields and armor) |

Doesn't surprise me. I'd think that the long goal is to represent each race most iconic weapons, and we all know from Eve how Amarr like their deathrays of holy light. |

Lets be reasonable though. If you want to introduce a new type of weapon to the game then we can't focus solely on how awesome it could be. Suggestions for drawbacks and comparisons with other weaponry should also get some consideration to make the discussion more serious. |

Hmm, pulse laser? I think a constant beam would look cooler than pulses, honestly.
Pulses would look too much like blaster shots but with a different sound effect and color.
A constant beam on the other hand would look more unique among the vehicle mounted artillery (looks are important to me) |

While im all for the "rule of cool", I think the ccp staff will already dump liberal amounts of "rule of cool" into everything (after all, they designed the hmg to be a big ass gatling gun).
The reason for my sober approach is because I want to push for the entire community in siding with me and letting any ccp devs reading this that we would like to see laser turrets in the game.
That means convincing players who eventually will find themselves on the wrong end of the laser turrets getting gunned down by them occasionally. The last thing they want to see is some OP-megaweapon coming their way.
I want a COOL laser turret, not an overpowered one! |
